How long can I rent an RV?

We have a three (3) night minimum rental period on all of our units. There is no maximum on rental days. Give us a call, (813) 802-9285, for special pricing on rentals exceeding 7 days.

Do I need a special License to drive a RV?

While you do not need a special license to drive an RV, you must be 25 years old and hold a valid driver’s license from your state of residence and have a clean driving record. There are no special permits or classes to attend to drive an RV. Each person that will be driving the RV will need to be listed and meet the same requirements.

What type of Payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards - Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We require a valid credit card for your reservation deposit.

Do you require a security deposit?

Yes, RVs are expensive and some in our fleet cost as much as $500k, which is a substantial investment. Due to the value and quality of our units, our security deposits range from $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 depending on the unit. We DO NOT accept cash. We will place a hold for the security deposit before your departure; this is released 7-10 days after the return of the RV rental as long as the RV comes back in the same condition in which it leaves. We collect a security deposit in the event of an accident or damage to the RV. This will cover the deductible and other damages that might be done, such as, but not limited to, pets, smoking, accidents, broken or missing items from the RV, windshield damages, roof damage, etc.

What type of Insurance is required?

Journey USA RV Rentals require that you purchase insurance for your RV trip, unless your auto insurance company is willing to issue a binder. In our experience, State Farm or USAA are willing to assist. Otherwise, we will assist you with insurance options. If you are renting a tow-behind travel trailer, you will need to call your insurance company to make sure they will extend your auto policy to also cover the travel trailer you are towing. Most companies will do this, however, if not, you will need to purchase our insurance so you have the proper coverage.

How many people can travel in RV?

This depends on the model you rent, but most of our fleet can sit up to 8 people. A good rule of thumb is one person for one seat belt. Of course, children should always go in the safety seat at all times while traveling.

How many people can sleep in the RV?

This depends on the RV you rent from us. Most units will sleep a minimum of 4 and some can sleep up to 10 people

What is the gas mileage like driving an RV?

There are several factors that come into play when talking about gas mileage, such as type and size of the RV, terrain, and personal driving habits. Typically you can expect to get 8-14 mpg driving an RV. If you are driving steep terrains and travelling faster than 65 mph you will get less than ideal MPG when you travel.

Do you allow smoking in the RV?

Absolutely not! All of our coaches and travel trailers are 100% smoke-free and we plan to keep it this way. We have a very strict policy on smoking tobacco, marijuana or other products and we ask that you do not smoke in our RVs or within 25ft of the rental unit. We charge $1000 if any evidence of smoking is found in your rental unit. The smell is stubborn and tough to get out.

Will you deliver the RV rental?

Yes, we deliver for an additional fee. We deliver travel trailers and motorhomes anywhere in the country at your request. However, we do take into account mileage, days traveled and time spent when delivering the unit to your requested location. We regularly deliver to Disney, Daytona, Sebring, North and South Florida and other popular RV spots. Contact us for more details on our RV delivery services at (813) 802-9285.

Do you offer one-way RV Rentals?

We do offer one way rentals, but we do have to organize the return to Tampa. We charge this return leg at cost, only.

What is your return/drop-off policy?

We ask that you return the RV rental the same way you picked it up. If the RV rental is returned early there are no refunds, no exceptions. RV rental return is no later than 12:00 pm on the end date of your Rental Agreement. Late Returns will be charged $50.00 an hour up to 5 hours and then 1 and ½ day daily rate will be charged after that. Alternatively, you may pay $100 late return fee to return it prior to 5.00pm on your scheduled return date.

Do you allow Pets?

We understand that pets are just like members of your family – sometimes you want them to come along! We allow dogs in most of our RVs, but no cats.

Can I tow something behind my RV Rental?

It depends on what you are wanting to tow. We do allow small trailers but please call us at (813) 802-9285 to discuss towing options.

What is your Returns/Refunds Policy?

When you reserve an RV, we remove it from our available fleet. For that reason, we can potentially incur a large cost when you need to cancel or adjust your plans. If you need to adjust your plans, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements. If you need to cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. You may cancel your reservation up to 60 days prior to your departure date with a $75.00 Processing Fee. If you cancel your reservation 31-60 days prior to your departure date, you will be charged a $300.00 Processing Fee. Cancellations that occur within 15-30 days of the scheduled departure date will be charged 25% of the total balance and refunded the difference. Cancellations that occur 8-14 days prior to your departure date will be charged 50% of the total reservation and refunded the difference. Cancellations that occur within 7 days of the scheduled departure date will be charged 100% of the total reservation.

Is generator use included?

Yes! We include five hours of daily generator use in our pricing. We charge $3/hour for excess hours of use. The generator allows the operation of the AC, TV’s, accessories, lights and so on. You will need to periodically check the oil level in the generator and add oil as needed. The generator takes fuel from the main fuel tank of the RV, and will automatically shut off when the main tank is below a quarter tank. This way, when you are sleeping at night, you won’t be stranded without fuel. The generator will automatically shut off if the oil is low or if the main fuel tank is below a quarter tank. Please make sure to check both at every stop when refueling.

What happens if I'm in an accident?

We ask that you ensure everyone is ok inside the RV first, and then make sure everyone else involved is ok. Contact Journey USA RV immediately after 911 (if necessary) (813) 802-9285 if your rental unit is involved in an accident.  In the unfortunate event of an accident we want you to know how the situation will be handled. Our goal is to be as honest, up front and clear as possible so there aren’t any surprises. If you have ANY questions please do not hesitate to contact us at (813) 802-9285. Note: You must contact the police so they can write up a detailed description of the accident. Take pictures, close ups of ALL vehicles involved, the intersection or place that the accident took place and pictures of the accident with the vehicles involved from afar. Different angles of the scene and accident are always good to have. A full written police accident report must be submitted to our management upon your return. Failure to comply with these items will result in the forfeiture of your entire security deposit.

Do I need to empty waste tanks?

We require that you dump and flush the holding tanks prior to your return, unless you opt for our prepaid sewage option, which is $100.00. If you are planning an extended trip we will show you how and where to dump and refill your tanks on the road.

Do I get any training or instruction before leaving?

Yes, we perform a walk through and orientation for your rental unit as part of our startup kit. Each unit is different, so we walk you through all the systems, as well as perform a safety walk-through with you prior to departure. Also, we can take you for a test drive and show you the basics of driving an RV. Please plan for 1-2 hours for the orientation. This is mandatory before you can take your rental unit.

What time is pick-up and return?

Pick up times can vary depending on the needs of each customer; we do our best to accommodate each customer based on their needs. We ask that you let us know what time you will be picking up your RV, so we can get the RV up and running prior to your arrival. This way, the refrigerator will be cold and the A/C will cool off your rental unit. Pick up times are between 9:00am and 3:00pm on the start date of your trip. If you need special accommodations please contact us at (813) 802-9285 and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Some charges may apply. Return time is no later than 12:00pm on the date of your return, unless you opt for the late return option. We ask that you call 45 mins prior to arrival. We do charge late fees of $75.00 per hour if you do not return within the allotted return time of 12:00pm on the end day of your rental.

Are there any preparation Fees?

We charge prep fee of $225.00 on all of our rentals. This includes rental orientation, cleaning/sanitizing prior to pickup, new fresh water and sewage hoses, RV toilet paper, toilet deodorizer, and exterior cleaning after drop-off. What should I know about the awnings?

Awnings are very susceptible to wind and must be put down or stored properly each night and during the day if there are high winds. We suggest that you use it only when you are able to supervise the awning. We ask that at night you properly store and return the awning to its closed position. You are responsible for any damage during the rental period for any awning damage as it is not covered under insurance.

Do you charge mileage fees?

All professional RV rental agencies charge mileage fees. Why? Because every mile driven has a real cost of depreciation. Without them, the renter driving locally, for a week, pays the same as the renter driving to a California for a week. The former is effectively subsidizing the latter!

Our fees are as follows: 300 miles/day included then $.39/mile afterward.

How to calculate excess mileage fees?

Over 90% of our renters pay zero to small mileage fees.

We include a generous 300 miles per day (not per night) in the price of the rental. This is 50% more than the average mileage included by our competitors and allows for an average of around 5-7 hours driving each day.

Once you exceed 300m miles/day, we do charge excess mileage fees of $.39/mile for the simple reason that depreciation of the vehicle is a real expense item. We factor that into our base pricing since most renters do not wish to spend more than a few hours each day driving.

Moreover, if we do not charge excess mileage fees, a renter who stays locally for say, a week is effectively subsidizing the renter who traveled 3,000 miles in a week. In our opinion, that is not fair on the local renter.

Our tiered pricing, therefore, is designed to discourage those renters who want to travel to California and back in a week!

Do you charge Generator fees?

Our generator fees include a generous 5 hours/day, following which generator use is charged at $3.00/hour.

For Example: 3 night/4 day trip = 20 hours included

If you use 25 hours, you will be charged an additional $15.00.
